A series of classes to get the ability to model orthoses from scratch through the open source tool Blender and WASP Med Add-on.

This Add On Blender 2.8 Workshop for medical 3D printing was born from the need of many professionals in the medical world to know better Blender 2.8 and the specific medical Add-on developed by WASP MED.

This course is dedicated to 
The 3D modeling workshop is dedicated to the medical world, to get more specific skills about the medical Add-on developed by WASP MED. It is a workshop dedicated to professionals in the orthopedic sector and 3D modelers who want to acquire useful tools for the use of digital manufacturing in their daily work. In particular, it is perfect for the orthopedic technician who wants to acquire competence in a professional tool for 3D design of orthoses.

Minimum required skills 
Informatics bases are needed. At the end of the course you will receive a certificate of participation. You need a personal laptop with a mouse and charger. Minimum requirements: Intel i5 or higher, dedicated graphics card, 8 GB Ram.

What you will get with this course 
At the end of the course you’ll be able to elaborate your 3D scanning and turn it into your 3D printable orthotic. With the different tools you’ll learn how to model on each part of the body with basic principles. You’ll have a general knowledge of Blender as a modeling tool.

The courses are held online in WEBINAR model. This solution will allow you to attend the course wherever you are, on your computer or portable device.
Our online platform allows the recording of the training, for you to be consulted up to 3 months after the session.

PROGRAM

DAY 1 – INTRO

  • Organic vs mechanical modeling;
  • Modeling of low-poly parts;
  • Bridging, extrusions, erasing and moving faces.

DAY 2 – ANATOMICAL ADAPTATION

  • Mesh import and scans;
  • Modify and manage an imported mesh;
  • Sculpting;
  • Use of modifiers for anatomical adaptation.

DAY 3 – WASP MED ADD-ON

  • Add-on step-by-step use with details;
  • Study of the functions inside Add-on in Blender 2.8;
  • Modify the mesh that comes out from the Add-on with additional functions.

DAY 4 – SPECIFIC PROCEDURES Q&A

  • Specific cases based on participants’ feedbacks;
  • Workflows’ creation
  • Libraries and assets

Giulio Buscaroli
Giulio is our expert in technical and medical materials 3d printing. With a solid background in product design and process development Giulio will be at your disposal during these training hours.

Lorenzo Filipponi
Lorenzo is our 3D modeling specialist,  with a 360° background that spreads from organic mesh modeling to parametric mechanical CAD. With his experience Lorenzo will guide you on the best practices on 3D modeling, 3D printing and materials.

The course includes 4 classes for a total of 12 hours + 12 assignment hours at home, for a total of 24 hourS.

The Add On Blender 2.8 Workshop for medical 3D printing costs 1400 Euro (VAT excluded) each person. For more participants a special pricing can be requested.

WASP operational headquarters: Via Castelletto 104 Massa Lombarda. You will see 3D printers of all sizes, prints of all types and a lot of creativity. How to get there?

  • By car: A14 Highway, exit at Imola, then follow the signs for Massa Lombarda, Fruges.It’s easy but it’s better to set your car navigator!
  • By train: It is a bit complicated to get to Massa Lombarda by train, there is a station but it is poorly served: you can find timetables on www.trenitalia.it or on https://www.zaganellibus.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/MODIFICHE-LINEA-177-OTTOBRE-2019.pdf.
  • By bus: Bus is better if you arrive from Bologna, you can take a TPer bus. https://www.tper.it/
