This Add On Blender 2.8 Workshop for medical 3D printing was born from the need of many professionals in the medical world to know better Blender 2.8 and the specific medical Add-on developed by WASP Med.

This course is dedicated to 
The 3D modeling workshop is dedicated to the medical world, to get more specific skills about the medical Add-on developed by WASP Med. It is a workshop dedicated to professionals in the orthopedic sector and 3D modelers who want to acquire useful tools for the use of digital manufacturing in their daily work. In particular, it is perfect for the orthopedic technician who wants to acquire competence in a professional tool for 3D design of orthoses.

Minimum required skills 
Informatics bases are needed. At the end of the course you will receive a certificate of participation. You need to bring a personal laptop with a mouse and charger. Minimum requirements: Intel i5 or higher, dedicated graphics card, 8 GB Italian / English Ram.

What you will get with this course 
It will be four working days dedicated to the acquisition of basic and advanced tools for the use of WASP Med Add-on Blender 2.8, the result of a year of research of WASP in the digital orthopedic field.

PROGRAM

DAY 1 – INTRO

  • Organic vs mechanical modeling;
  • Modeling of low-poly parts;
  • Bridging, extrusions, erasing and moving faces.

DAY 2 – ANATOMICAL ADAPTATION

  • Mesh import and scans;
  • Modify and manage an imported mesh;
  • Sculpting;
  • Use of modifiers for anatomical adaptation.

DAY 3 – WASP MED ADD-ON

  • Add-on step-by-step use with details;
  • Study of the functions inside Add-on in Blender 2.8;
  • Modify the mesh that comes out from the Add-on with additional functions.

DAY 4 – SPECIFIC PROCEDURES Q&A

  • Specific cases based on participants’ feedbacks;
  • Workflows’ creation

Professor

Alessandro Zomparelli
Alessandro Zomparelli is a blender developer and university professor at the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Bologna and at the Istituto Marangoni (Milan), where he teaches digital design techniques for product design.

The  Add On Blender 2.8 Workshop for medical 3D printing will be distributed over 4 days of 7 hours a day. The dates will be combined in 2 days and 2 days, to decrease the movements of the participants. There will be a maximum of 12 participants and a minimum of 5 to ensure maximum teaching effectiveness and one-to-one verticality. The days will be divided into the first part 4 hours in the morning of theoretical lesson held by Professor Alessandro Zomparelli, in the afternoon 4 hours of practice together with the WASP tutors.

Prices

The Add On Blender 2.8 Workshop for medical 3D printing costs 1000 Euro (IVA Esclusa) each person. At the end of the course you will receive the participation certificate.

The course includes 32 lesson hours + 15 assignment hours at home, for a total of 47 hours.

WASP operational headquarters: Via Castelletto 104 Massa Lombarda. You will see 3D printers of all sizes, prints of all types and a lot of creativity. How to get there?

  • By car: A14 Highway, exit at Imola, then follow the signs for Massa Lombarda, Fruges.It’s easy but it’s better to set your car navigator!
  • By train: It is a bit complicated to get to Massa Lombarda by train, there is a station but it is poorly served: you can find timetables on www.trenitalia.it or on https://www.zaganellibus.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/MODIFICHE-LINEA-177-OTTOBRE-2019.pdf.
  • By bus: Bus is better if you arrive from Bologna, you can take a TPer bus. https://www.tper.it/
  • By plane: the closest airport is Bologna. Once landed, you must arrive in the center and take the TPer bus to Massa Lombarda. https://www.tper.it/ or a train of www.trenitalia.it.
